Mahendra Singh (MS) Dhoni showcased his aggressive cricket once again during the match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season at the Ekana Sports City, Lucknow, on Friday.
Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2020, has been on fire in the IPL 2024 as he continues to deliver for CSK at the age of 42. The former franchise skipper once again steered his side to a competitive total with his prowess down the order.
The 42-year-old came to bat when CSK were 141-6 in 17.5 overs as they were troubled greatly by the LSG bowling attack. Players like Rachin Ravindra, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube and Sameer Rizvi failed to score big with the bat.
The five-time IPL winners looked like they would have to settle with a low total but Dhoni did what he does best as he scored 28 runs on just 9 deliveries with three fours and two sixes.
He also hit a massive 101m six to Yash Thakur as the ball went all the way into the stands and the crowd, covered in yellow, roared. CSK ended their innings scoring 176-6 in the allocated overs.

During the innings, Dhoni also completed 5,000 IPL runs and became the only wicketkeeper batter to do so. He is followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) Dinesh Karthik who has 4,369 runs since the commencement of the tournament in 2008.
By the time this story was filed, LSG were batting at 43-0 in five overs with KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock on the crease.
